Directions of Use​

1. Ensure the pointing joints are clean, sound, and free from loose material, dust, oil, or other contaminants.

2. Thoroughly dampen the brick, brick slips, and joints with clean water before applying the mortar. The substrate should be damp but free from standing water. Pre-wetting helps control suction, improves adhesion, and reduces the risk of premature drying.

3. Empty the required amount of ready-mix mortar into a clean mixing container.

4. Add approximately 20% clean water by weight (around 4 litres of water per 20 kg bag).

5. Mix thoroughly using a suitable paddle mixer or mechanical mixer for 3-5 minutes, ensuring all dry material is fully incorporated and a smooth, lump-free, homogeneous consistency is achieved. Poor mixing may result in inconsistent colour, reduced workability, and variable performance.

6. Water addition may vary depending on the application method (e.g. trowel, pointing bag, or mortar gun), ambient temperature, substrate absorption, and the user's preferred working consistency. Add water gradually and adjust as required, taking care not to overwater the mix.

7. Allow the mixed mortar to stand for 2-3 minutes, then remix briefly before use.

8. Apply the mortar firmly into the joints using a pointing trowel, pointing bag, or mortar gun, ensuring the joints are completely filled.

9. Finish the joints to the required profile before the mortar begins to harden.

10. Remove excess mortar from the masonry surface before it sets.

11. Use the mixed mortar within 1-2 hours of mixing. Do not retemper by adding additional water once the mortar has begun to set.
